I've had an idea for what to do on my Final Year Project, this is the first idea I've that I truly want to do.
It's a rhythm based game, similar to Tap Tap Revenge for Android phones.
But the difference being, is that this game will (hopefully pending interest/permission) based on the band LOST's music (although they are Japanese, they still tend to reply to me in perfect English on Facebook)
This is the message I sent to them:
Hey LOST, me again! Sorry to bother you, but this might actually interest you guys.
For my final year studying Computer Science (October 2013 - July 2014), I have to do a large project (of which I spend 1/3 of my University time on). So I've been thinking of ideas of what I could do and after some thought I wanted to do a project which wouldn't just be for my benefit. This morning the idea popped in my head:
A rhythm game for Android phones (similar to Tap Tap Revenge https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tapulous.taptaprevenge4&hl=en ), which has tracks from just you guys in it! I can't promise that it will be amazingly polished, since it's only going to be one person (me) working on it. Or my University may not accept it for a Final Year Project idea (which will be a letdown..). But since I enjoy making videogames, and enjoy your music, why not combine the two! The distribution of the end result would be up to you guys (i.e. if you want to sell the game or release it for free - as long as I get credit for it, to get my name out there, and if you do sell it, a bit of the money would be nice :P).
So I'm writing this for a) your permission, as I would need to use some music of yours in the game (though this may be more complex if your label own the rights to the music) and b) if you are interested in this game idea
If you are or aren't interested please let me know
Cheers!
It hasn't been read yet, but I hope they at least find it interesting, though permission to use the music might be a bit difficult, but we'll have to wait and see.
Anyway I have doing my 'research' by playing a lot of Tap Tap Revenge, and the things I don't like:

ing the 16x multiplier star has killed my streak countless timesDownloading songs is slow and awful Phone shake notes are pointless
Being that I am awful at art, I thought it would be a good idea to sketch out the design which was lurking in my head (along with lyrics on the right!):
Here it is transferring into Photoshop - which still can't make my art any good...
Although the above design would be great for an alpha version, just not the final product. I hope I can use my project budget to outsource the art, otherwise that will take me a lot of time!
- Have a phone shake apply the multiplier
- This won't apply as there won't be any need to download songs
- Replace them with swipe notes?
